"Every Hero Has a Story!" is this year's summer reading program. Families can pick up a summer reading packet anytime after school is out, and they include a schedule of summer programs, reading logs, Bedtime Math, games, coupons, and more. Give us a call at 582-2404 for more information, or stop by the Children's Desk.
Our summer reading program encourages kids to read a little every day, to read books for FUN, and to visit the Library to play, to come to programs, to meet friends, read, find books, or just hang out. Research shows that kids who read six or more books over the summer see improvement in their reading achievement. Guess what happens to those kids who don't read in the summer? While other students move forward, these kids fall behind. That doesn't need to happen!
If kids want, they can get a sticker for every visit to the Library for their reading log, and at the end of the summer we have books for kids who visited at least six times.
Kids can also register for The Summer 6 Reading Challenge sponsored by the Montana Office of Public Instruction. The Challenge will start on June 1 and end August 31, 2015.
We have weekly programs for all ages. . . check our monthly calendar on the homepage under "What's Going On" for details. Sign-up for our Creative Workshops will begin online in July. For more information about our summer reading program and activities, please call 582-2404.
