On Monday, March 18, 7pm, learn all about Intermountain Opera Bozeman’s May production of Charles Gounod’s Romčo et Juliette, which is sung in French with English supertitles. Local singers Abigail Dueppen and Rachel Osen (sopranos), Russell Milburn (Tenor), and Harlan Reidmohr (Baritone) will perform pieces from the opera, accompanied by pianist Beth Lee, joined by MSU Professor Emeritus and Shakespeare Scholar, Sharon Beehler, will present excerpts from Romčo et Juliette from Shakespeare to Opera. You will also hear a little background about opera in general. You don’t want to miss this “sneak peak” or either of the two upcoming events prior to the performance: • An initial read through of Romčo et Juliette on April 26, in Large Community Room. The public is invited as the Intermountain Opera of Bozeman presents the artists’ initial public reading of Romčo et Juliette so that you might experience the opera in a more casual setting in preparation for the May production. • Peter Fox Smith presenting Romčo et Juliette on Saturday, May 4 at 2:00pm, again in the Library’s community room. Join author, poet and NPR announcer, Smith and get the inside scoop on Romčo et Juliette, after which will be a book signing.
