The Bozeman Library Foundation will host its first Exploring the Arts program of 2013 on Monday, January 14, 7pm in the Large Community Room. Kelly Roberti kicks off the season with “The Evolution of Bass and the Legendary Bassists in Jazz.” World renowned jazz bassist/composer and educator, Roberti will give an insightful and informed view of the ever-changing role and the lineage of the pivotal players on the bass in jazz history. There will be musical examples showcasing each important evolution featuring both explanations of why the change in approach occurred and what the change was rhythmically. This lecture performance is to provide a greater understanding of the ever evolving rhythmic body of jazz music from the late 19th century to the present. Call Paula at 582-2426 for more info.
