Banned Picture Books Discussion

Cottonwood Room

2022 was marked by an unprecedented surge in the number of books that are being challenged in public and school libraries across the country. Many of these books feature characters and scenes with LGBTQ+ content (according to PEN America, 26% of books banned). Let's talk about some of these books.

Banned Picture Books Discussion

  • Tuesday, June 27
  • 6:30 - 7:30 PM
  • Cottonwood Room

The Bozeman Public Library would like to host a Banned Picture Books Discussion. We’ll get together to read a few picture books (aloud) and talk about the themes, challenges and responses to the book. This is a great opportunity for you to engage with books that have been challenged and banned.

The program is for adults, even though we will be reading picture books, and you do not need to read the books beforehand. You may not agree with either the challenges or the themes presented in the books but we hope every participant is open to a civil discussion regarding the books. Possible books that could include: And Tango Makes Three, Everywhere Babies, Worm Loves Worm, Pride, Stella Brings the Family, When Aiden became a Brother and more.

The event will take place in the Library's Cottonwood Room on June 26 at 6:30 PM.

Questions? Please call the Library at (406)582-2410.
