Big Kid STEAM Play: Owl Pellets
October 2-31 during all Library open hours in the Children's Room
For ages 5-11
Discover an owl's last meal by dissecting an owl pellet. After swallowing prey whole, owls use their gizzards to pack undigestible parts like bones, teeth, and fur into a ball called a pellet. Owls spit up or "cast" pellets about twice a day.
All pellets offered at the library have been heated to a high temperature to kill bacteria, making them safe for young ornithologists to examine.
*The Library will be closed on October 9 for Indigenous Peoples Day*
